ABOUT
Holocene is the alias for front-woman, Sian Kelly; artist and songwriter from South-West London. Holocene fuses the two at-odds worlds of grunge and jazz into a new melancholy. Influenced by the rock records which front woman Sian listened to as a kid including the likes of PJ Harvey, Nirvana and Soundgarden to name a few, Holocene's music pays homage to the artists she loves, and has been spun into a web of alternative pop rock. Obsessed with fuzzy bass lines and distorted guitars, Holocene pairs this with her soulful and tenor-like deep voice. Holocene's music celebrates the lower resonances of the female voice, with evocative lyricism starkly set against a background of growling guitars and drums.
Off of the back of a sold-out tour opening for the iconic Brit Rock legends Skunk Anansie, Holocene is only at the beginning of her journey. Holocene is currently in the studio, finishing writing and recording new music, for which you listen to and to here, and you can keep updated by following their process on their socials here.
